How to Create a Happy and Vintage Thanksgiving Table
I love everything about Thanksgiving. I love waking up and waiting for Santa to make his appearance on the Macy's parade. I love the smell of stuffing. I love the grazing that happens from the beginning of the day to the end of the day. I love being with the ones I love. I love having things in my life to be Thankful for...and I love everything I am thankful for.
I have not been able to stop thinking about my Thanksgiving table. I love mixing textures and items on my table to create an inviting and happy table for my guests. Here is my idea of a perfect table this year.
TABLECLOTH
I want my family to walk in that room and be hit with a soothing and happy blue color.
CHARGERS
I firmly believe everyone should invest in a set of neutral charger, a set of brass or gold chargers and a set of silver chargers. While I spend way too much lusting over marble chargers from Villeroy and Boch online, I don't have the space to store that kind of thing. Having these 3 neutral types of chargers are great to use at any occasion and for any season.
PLATES
I know it is so predictable but I think having some kind of turkey or fall woodland scene plates that you use each year for Thanksgiving is so special. It becomes a treat to pull it out and use it. I love these NASCO Mountain Woodland plates and these Maxcera Turkey Toile plates.
GLASSES
Here are a great pair of green Depression Glasses I found in Connecticut that would add the best shade of color to the table.
I also love these classic glasses.
FLATWARE
If there was ever a time to be bringing out your grandmother's silver....it is Thanksgiving. But here is another look that will work.
TURKEY BOWLS
How lovely are these for serving the first course of soup!
LINENS
Why does sitting at a table with pressed vintage linens FEEL special? Like, you just KNOW something big is coming your way, right? Here are my favorite ones I have in my Etsy shop.
CENTERPIECES
I prefer to keep my holiday centerpieces fairly simple. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a huge and elaborate and colorful centerpiece but the holidays, for me, are about the food. I want space for all that food to be on my table and be passed around for easy access for my guests.
I just LOVE this little guy.
Then mix a little garland around some brass candles like the from my shop on either side of our little turkey friend and you have a fantastic centerpiece!!!
What do you love to put on your Thanksgiving Table? What family heirlooms are your favorite?
